Energy management

A strong sense of social responsibility leads us to efficiently manage energy resources, rationally use public funds and significantly reduce negative effects on the environment. We responsibly manage more than 400 public buildings.

MODERN APPROACHES

The adoption of the Sustainable Energy Action Plan commits us to increasing the use of renewable energy sources, reducing energy consumption and consequently, the greenhouse gas emissions (by 2020). We take care of the comprehensive renovation of buildings - to this end, we will use the option of public-private partnerships in line with the principle of energy contracting (contractually guaranteed savings). The introduction of energy accounting for all facilities owned or managed by the City of Ljubljana (kindergartens, schools, sports facilities, commercial buildings and so on) and up-to-date energy management will significantly contribute to reducing energy and water consumption while maintaining the same standard of comfort for the users.

Modern energy management using the newest technological solutions and equipment will enable personalised settings to conditions of comfort, but what’s more important is that every error in the system will be instantly identified, which will enable quick and efficient remedying of shortfalls or failures (water leaks, temperatures in buildings too high or low, humidity regulation etc).

THE NUMBER OF STREETLIGHTS REPLACED IN LJUBLJANA

In Ljubljana we have been changing light bulbs in line with the Decree on Limiting Values due to Light Pollution of the Environment (2008). Ljubljana Public Lighting uses modern light sources that are energy efficient and thus have a reduced impact on the environment.

DID YOU KNOW?

Consistently implementing measures (heat protection, building furniture) and steps with the building's technical systems (heating, ventilation, air conditioning and lighting) and the introduction of control systems and equipment are the correct approaches to integrated energy renovation in buildings and thus improved energy efficiency.  Only through this can we achieve optimal energy savings, which are hard to reach with partial renovation or inconsistent implementation of individual measures.
