NEW, ENVIRONMENTALLY FRIENDLY LPP BUSES

NEW, ENVIRONMENTALLY FRIENDLY LPP BUSES

Following the opening of the southern section of Slovenska cesta, it is on the routes of 30 new CNG buses. The Ljubljana Passenger Transport fleet will benefit from the addition of thirty new low-floor articulated buses, which at 18m are the longest articulated buses in the fleet. The purchase of the buses increases the LPP capacity in the morning rush hour, which is especially important on the busiest routes on which most of these buses will run.

The buses are equipped in line with the most modern European standards. They are low-floor, have video systems, LED display screens, and in every regard are adapted to people with disabilities (they have ramps, voiced announcements, announcements of the travel direction, displays above the driver, appropriate space for older people and those with disabilities, suitably coloured grip rods and carry the mark of the latest European emission standards EURO VI). These purchases reduce the average age of the city's bus fleet to 8.73 years. These modern environmentally friendly buses, that use natural gas for fuel, help us to improve the quality of urban life in Ljubljana.

The purchase of 30 new buses is the second largest upgrade of the LPPfleet (from 2007 until now 131 buses have been replaced, of which 47 are rigid and 84 articulated). We should add that LPP, which transports up to 200,000 passengers a day, will soon add a further seven buses to its fleet, which meet the most stringent EURO VI environmental requirements. These buses will be purchased by the City of Ljubljana with financial support from the EKO fund, which is Slovenia's public environmental fund.
