Who is there today that has still not heard of a detox – a synonym for detoxification of the body.  In festive December, when there isn't enough time for recreation or relaxation, and when most of us eat processed food without real energy and drink lots of alcohol, a bodily detox is more than welcome. When is a good time to think about a detox? The most obvious signs that our organism is saturated with toxic substances are indigestion, bloatedness, fatigue, mood swings, poor skin and poor concentration… In such cases it is ideal to opt for step changes in diet and to add to your menu more organically produced vegetables and fruit and supplement them with some highly detoxifying products (so-called super foods).

The most elegant, tasty and quick way to consume green vegetables with fruit and super foods (especially after an “overindulgent” night), is to enjoy a thick, mushy – a smoothie.

A green smoothie – a mine of chlorophyll

Especially in a green smoothie, there is a great deal of chlorophyll, the 'blood of plants', which is a rich source of natural minerals, vitamins, proteins, trace elements and micro-nutrients. These sets of substances are urgently necessary for life, to preserve health, and especially to regulate the acid-base balance in our bodies. Chlorophyll helps to rid our bodies of heavy metals, which enter along with our food and thus poison the body. What is important when you mix a green detoxifying smoothie? That we put in as many different kinds of leafy green vegetables, as this way we introduce the greatest variety of minerals, vitamins and nutrients at the same time. As a base, I always take organically produced spinach, and then add seasonal greenleaf vegetables, and in winter leafy kale, and all year round Swiss chard, dandelion and nettle.

RECIPE

Super smoothie for detoxification (3dcl)
It helps detoxification, deacidification, regulates digestion, strengthens the immune system and promotes growth and cell regeneration.

Ingredients:

  • 1 apple
  • 1 kiwi
  • 5 centilitres of lemon juice
  • A handful of fresh spinach or other leafy vegetables
  • 2 stalks of celery or parsley (or cucumber)
  • 1 teaspoon whole flax seed
  • A handful of goji berries
  • A piece of root ginger
  • 1 teaspoon powdered algae chlorella
  • 1 teaspoon barley grass

 

Put everything into a blender and add 20 cl of coconut (contains a large amount of potassium, calcium and chloride, due to which it is good in the fight against dehydration, exhaustion and fatigue in strenuous activities. It is a natural isotonic.) or natural water and blend for about a minute so that the blender breaks the cells in the ingredients and eases the body's access to the valuable trace elements within. In the event that you don't have many of the ingredients listed, you can greatly simplify the smoothie and just put into the blender a few raw green leafy vegetables, lemon juice, apple (or pear, kiwi, orange) and water. Of course you'll get an effective detoxifying smoothie.
